Arriving to Viana, we set out to discover the streets and alleys of this charming city, on a Walking Tour that will lead us calmly through the historic center. The Old Town Hall, the Square's Fountain, the Church of Our Lady of the Agony, the Cathedral of Viana, the Chapel of Malheiras, among others, and the visit to the Costume Museum, created at the beginning of the 20th century, dedicated to the Viana's ethnography and in particular to the Costume of Viana, are part of our tour. Lunch will be in a typical restaurant that maintains the essence and authenticity of the cuisine of this region. Free time. We suggest the ascent to Monte de Santa Luzia by funicular for a breathtaking panoramic view of the Atlantic coast and Lima river valley, visit of the Temple-Monument of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and "Zimbório" and the Citadel of Santa Luzia (ruins of the old city). In the center of the city, a leisurely stroll through the Marginal Garden and the Marina, ending with a taste of delicious "Mexidos" (sweets made with eggs and almonds) or a slice of Viana's Royal Cake (regional sweets) to restore energies. If you visit Viana do Castelo at the time of the beautiful Festivities of Our Lady of the Agony, in August, do not forget to dedicate the day to the famous pilgrimage. This is one of the most beautiful and traditional festivities in mainland Portugal, dedicated to the patron saint of the city, where you can see the women dressed in the traditional costumes of Viana and covered with secular pieces of jewelry (delicate gold filigree), transmitted in inheritance from mothers to daughters and borrowed from friendly families.
